Ladies, ladies, ladies. It’s time to pick up some heavy weights and deadlift! What’s a deadlift? It’s a lift made from standing position. You will not morph into The Incredible Hulk. You won’t look like a muscular beast. You will look like a feminine, curvy, beauty! Here are 15 reasons you should do deadlifts, then a quick how-to!
1. MENTAL. You realize how strong you are, which is empowering; The endorphin release from 1 rep of deadlifts equals the infamous runner’s high, meaning you can get the same fix with 1/100 the amount of time.
2. LEGS. Toned.
3. BACKSIDE. Beautiful hamstrings and butt.
4. BACK. Build muscle in your upper and lower back muscles.
5. ARMS. Strong arms and shoulders.
6. BELLY. Anti-muffin top/love handles/ab flab. No crunch could force the abs to work as hard.
7. CARDIO. High-intensity cardiovascular workout that trumps the effects of common cardio. Marathon runners will improve velocity, efficiency, stride length, and sprinting power.
8. PRIVATE PARTS. Strengthen the pelvic floor muscles to overcome/ prevent incontinence issues, boost sexual stamina and enjoyment. Women can deliver babies easier and survive the rigor of delivery with fewer soft tissue injuries. In addition, the colon is stimulated which helps you poop.
9. MUSCLE. Your metabolism is boosted because muscles are stimulated your your body burns calories and blasts fat.
10. POSTURE. Deadlifts improve posture and balance.
11. STRENGTH. 1 move, many muscles—at once: calves, quads, hamstrings, butt, arms, core, lower/middle/upper back, traps, and shoulders; one single movement — provides most of the same benefits as any other complete exercise routine.
12. SAFE. Your form must be perfect. Do not round your back. You can drop the weight safely at any time. If your form is off, you may get seriously injured. For a step-by-step “how to” go to http://greatist.com/fitness/perfect-deadlift-technique
13. PRACTICAL. You always need to be able to lift things off the floor. When you are old, you will still have the power and strength necessary to be independent, instead of needing assistance with everyday tasks.
14. SIMPLE. No fancy machines; you need either a barbell and plates or dumbbells.
15. BACK PAIN. Back pain can occur because of weak glutes or weak spinal erectors . Deadlifts work the glutes and train the spine to stabilize. If your back is sore or weak, deadlift because your back will be strengthened and protected.
