Motherhood, Faith, Fitness, Nutrition. We've got you covered
1. Are you a morning or a night person? Well, I’m most productive in the mornings and ONLY workout in the morning, but I love to finally relax and have quiet time at night.
2. What healthy habit do you struggle with? That whole practice what you preach thing, huh? I fail badly when it comes to Sleep. I hardly ever get enough sleep. I do take short naps during Adler’s nap time. I say I’m working on it, but I really need to be better!
3. What’s your biggest pet peeve? When people quit because things get hard. All things worth doing get hard. Als0 when people don’t take responsibility for their actions. On a more practical level service people who are not friendly. I know their jobs are hard, but I love to spread love with a smile.
4. What is your worst habit? Well, I used to bite my nails which I quit doing right after I got engaged. Now it’s chewing gum. I chew Dentyne Fire like it’s my job, especially while I’m working. Maybe there is something to that oral fixation thing?
5. Best parenting advice you’ve been given: I can’t pick just one! 1. Don’t say no unless you mean it. 2. Say yes as often as you can. 3. Don’t let your marriage take a back burner to your children.
6. What’s your favorite way to unwind? Reading a good book, my Bible or watching The Good Wife while cuddling with my husband.
7. What books have you read recently? Well, I LOVE to read, but I’m not very fast anymore. I’m reading through The Best Yes again with our Momsanity Sisters and also reading “Unbroken” a few pages at a time. I also have started “In This House We Will Giggle” and loving it.
8. If you didn’t work with Momsanity and other health ventures what would you do? I think it would be really fun to be a high-powered female lawyer working on a good cause. That said, I really like working from my house in my workout clothes daily with my boy by my side. I truly love what I do. I also pray that God will lay mission work on our hearts in some way in the future.
9. What’s the hardest thing about being a grownup? Gosh, so many things. I think on a personal level fostering friendships and making new friends. That’s hard as an adult and a busy Mom. I LOVE creating opportunities to gather women together.
10. What’s your go-to afternoon snack? If I’m craving something sweet (usually) I’ll go for a scoop of NP Pro Chocolate protein powder, add a little bit of extra cocoa powder, some chia seeds, some spinach and some unsweet almond milk. It hits the spot every time without the sugar.
11. What healthy food do you dislike? I don’t love brussel sprouts, but I do eat them, and I’m funny about salmon. Sometimes I love it and others not so much. Also, funny enough I don’t love bacon although I’m working on it!
12. What’s your ideal day look like? An early morning workout (after a full night’s sleep), a relaxing breakfast with lots of coffee, a walk on the beach, reading time by a pool with an amazing view, a deep tissue massage and facial, an amazing salad for lunch that I don’t prepare, an afternoon nap, great conversation with good friends, wine and a romantic dinner followed by lots of family snuggle time. That’s a lot for one day, but that’s it.
13. What’s your favorite part about being a Mom? Watching my boy grow up and finally seeing the fruits of my two years of labor in his personality and actions. I also really enjoy the lessons that God teaches us through parenting like grace and patience.
14. Do you have any special talents? Not really. I’m pretty good at juggling lots of projects at once, but I think all Moms are. I’m NOT crafty although I secretly want to be “Pinteresty” or love HGTV but in reality they make me feel insecure.
15. What’s the one thing you’ve observed about Moms since becoming a Mom? As Moms we can’t do it all. I can’t have perfect hair, a perfect body, perfect clothes, a perfectly clean house, perfectly behaved children, perfect birthday parties, fantastic home decorations, and/or a perfect body. Everything that we put our time and energy into comes at the expense of something else. Motherhood is all about priorities. We can pick and choose, but feeling guilty over clutter or your child wearing mis-matched socks to school isn’t helping anyone. In the end when we prioritize what matters, both to US and for our kids, everyone wins. Unfortunately, it’s really hard to adopt that mentality and stop “people pleasing”.
16. Tell us about the other Momsanity Coaches: They are AMAZING. My partners are the smartest women and hardest workers I know! They are great friends to me and we chat multiple times daily. I also look forward to our planning meetings because they are so inspiring. Coach Kate is super-diligent and somehow gets everything done weeks in advance despite a crazy schedule- she’s also the sweetest thing in the world. Coach Debbie makes me laugh. I love when I get to hang out with her in person. She inspires me to put it all out there and hold nothing back. Both of these ladies have rock-solid faith in Jesus and are fantastic spiritual encouragers.
17. Favorite Bible Verse: I’ve shared others before, but a recent favorite is John 15:5: I am the vine;you are the branches. If a man remains in Me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
18. Tell us about your husband: I share my life with an incredible man. He puts God and his family above everything else. He loves me unconditionally and puts up with me at my worst. He is incredibly patient, calm and giving. He is also the most honest person I have ever met. I am so very thankful that God blessed me with such a fabulous husband, I don’t deserve him!
19. What’s your favorite recipe? I like simple food. I enjoy simple grilled meats with sauteed vegetables. I’ve never been big on casseroles plus they take a long time. My crockpot is my best friend. I do lots of chicken/pork/beef in the crockpot. I also love our pizza noodle casserole on the Momsanity Sisterhood site.
20. Who is your role model? I have so many! I learn so much from my Christian Mommy friends, from amazing women in business, from spiritual leaders and Christian Authors. I seriously can’t name just one!
