Motherhood, Faith, Fitness, Nutrition. We've got you covered
Here we are… it’s Thanksgiving day. Within the next 12 hours most families will be digging in to a giant meal of turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. We’ll sit around tables and maybe say grace before our meal. It saddens me a bit that Thanksgiving is largely a secular holiday. Yes, we spend time with family, but if yours is like mine, it’s kind of chaotic and there is more football watching and cooking happening than giving thanks.
1. As Christians our gratitude is directed to God alone.
Gratitude is trendy right now, and I’m not discounting that one bit. However, as Christians we’re not focusing on positive feelings, but instead where our blessings come from. God alone. What a fantastic opportunity to share with others where our hope comes from and honor the source of all our blessings.
2. Your Body is a Temple. Give Thanks for it and Honor It.
I’m not going to lecture on what should or s
hould not be consumed this holiday, but instead just encourage you to be mindful of what God says about your body. Treat it well. Stop when you’re full. Walk after your meal. Praise God for the gift of an able body. Throw this little workout into your day (It can be done anywhere).
10 Squats
10 Squat Jumps
10 Push Ups
10 Burpees
10 Lunges
10 Close Pushups
Repeat as Many Rounds as Possible for 10 Minutes
3. Use Thanksgiving as an opportunity to respond to God’s grace.
In 2 Corinthians 4:15. The Apostle Paul wrote: “It is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.”.
Our undeserved gift from God- grace-
As John Piper says beautifully, “Gratitude flourishes in the sphere of grace.”
May we feel overcome by His grace today and exalt him in everything we do!
Let’s challenge ourselves to share his grace with others. Through the “road rage”, through encounters with “difficult” family members, through Grandma’s urging you to eat an extra slice of pie, through the whining of nap-lacking children, through the guilt you feel after too much stuffing.
Grace- a true expression of Thanksgiving. Share it today!
Happy Thanksgiving Momsanity!
