Bible Resources for Full Hands

By Emily Saunders

I had just plopped down on the couch with all of the tools necessary to nurse my son.  After a minute or two I spotted my Bible across the room.  I really really wanted to dig into it in that moment, but it just wasn’t practical to do so.  Plus I had no where to easily set it down to actually read it….

BUT

I had my phone beside me.  Now we can talk about all of the bad stuff technology has created all day long, BUT there most definitely are advantages to living in the digital age when it comes to our faith.

Because you’re probably like me, I want to share some of my favorite resources for when reading a paper Bible or notes or anything on paper is just not possible.

IF Equip: This wonderful site provides daily emails during the week focused on one Biblical Topic. There is scripture, commentary and a short video focusing on application.  There is also an opportunity to comment if you would like.  Join the email list for daily emails FREE!  They have also just released a brand new app.

The First 5 App:  Spend your first moments of the day with God by using this FREE app as your alarm.  As soon as you turn your alarm off you can begin the day’s devotion.  Typical studies go through books of the Bible with commentary and videos. FREE!

The Doorposts Blog:  My personal favorite, this blog focuses 30 day studies on busy Moms and also gives ideas for kids.  Often times she spends 30 days on one chapter of the Bible and digs really deep using the Blue Letter Bible app to understand the original words, biblical references and biblical dictionaries.  A great way to learn how to really STUDY the Bible in bite sized chunks.  Join the email list to participate.  FREE!

She Reads Truth:  Daily devotion for women plus opportunities to participate in community.  Visit the website or subscribe for email delivery.

A Holy Experience:  Ann VosKamp just breathes truth.  She has a way with words that is a true gift from Heaven.  She isn’t afraid to broach difficult topics and her pictures tell all.  Her daily email is called Daily Relief and she provides words of wisdom, encouragement, and beautiful calm printables for reflection and reminders.

You Version:  The world’s most popular Bible app is full of reading plans, devotion plans, and of course the Bible.  You can be notified daily to complete your reading/plan at your preferred time and the app keeps track of your progress and allows you to catch up when you miss a day.  You can also listen to audio rather than read for when your hands are really full.  I sometimes do this while walking or in the car.

BIOY app:  Read the Bible in a year with commentary from Nicky and Pippa Gumbel.  Read or listen when your hands are full

The God Centered Mom Podcast:  A fabulous resource for Christian Moms, Heather MacFadyen interviews authors, scholars, pastors, and wise resources on a variety of topics from parenting to marriage to womanhood.  You can scroll through past episodes to choose topics that are relevant to you.
