BumpDate: 29 Weeks Pregnant

By Emily Saunders

Here we grow!!  My biggest revelation this month is how FAST everything is going!  Am I really going to have a baby in just over 2 months?

Weight Gain: 14 ish pounds

Food Cravings: d.  I also feel like I need more fat so I’ve been snacking on nuts.  And I’d be lying if I didn’t mention I could really use a glass of wine.  I’ve been making lots of soups and chili (I like EASY and FAST all the time, especially when pregnant)!

Aversions: None!   Although with Adler I craved soda and have no interest at all this go round.  That’s a good thing!

Exercise:  Still lifting heavy but being cautious about complicated movements due to my growing belly.  No more planks or core exercises.  Instead I lift heavy with weight over my head or doing things like deadlift to use my core.  Thankful for my Momsanity Sisterhood workouts to keep me moving.

I’ve also taken a break from sprints and moved to the recumbent bike due to an ankle injury.  Not my favorite thing, but it is what it is.  Pregnancy plus cast equals lots of sorrowful looks from strangers.  I just smile and move on.  THIS is why I exercise.  I am able to manage a cast, a 3 year old and a baby bump without losing it or hurting myself physically.  I won’t be running any 5Ks any time soon, but I’m not about to lay around all day either (like that’s an option anyway right?).

I’m using a pregnancy belt that I purchased for less than $15 on Amazon for my lifting workouts and it’s really helping keep my back supported!

Sleep:  The baby moves at night a lot and it is keeping me up some.  That said, once I’m asleep I’m good!

Weird Things:  Lots more Braxton Hicks.  We took a trip to Disney World just before Thanksgiving (pre-cast thank you Lord!) and I think I overdid it a bit and didn’t drink enough water.  Shame on me!!!  I noticed they were relatively strong and frequent in the evenings while there.

Emotions:  I’m starting to feel weepy and emotional at super random times.  It kind of makes me laugh because I’m not a super emotional person.

Notes:  The 28 Week appointment is when they typically make you drink that nasty chemical laden sugar drink to test blood sugar.  I opted out of that and instead tested my blood sugar at home over 2 weeks using a really simple $10 finger prick system.  Just a note to remember- you ALWAYS have options when it comes to your medical care.

Big Brother Notes:  Adler loves my belly and tries to lift my shirt to show strangers regularly.  It’s awkward to say the least, but I’m thankful that he’s so excited.
