Coach Emily… A Day in The Life

By Emily Saunders

Isn’t it funny how much we love to learn about other people’s “business”?  I mean, I’m not a particularly nosy person myself, but it’s always interesting to hear about how other people live and spend their time.  I’m documenting today for you in play by play fashion!  Enjoy!  It aint’ fancy but I hope you find it interesting.

5:00:  Alarm goes off… Hit snooze until 5:10

5:30:  Quiet time devotion and coffee (maybe the best part of the day?).  Right now I’m going through Jennifer Smith’s Wives After God study with a few other women and LOVE it!

6:00: Head to the gym to meet my friend Tara for a Metabolic Conditioning workout. Most of my workouts are done at home, but I do go to hot yoga one or two times per week and meet a friend one or two times per week. Tara and I have been working out together for YEARS and I love her to pieces! We kill it for about 30 minutes and are then seriously DONE!

7:00:  Arrive home.  Check a few emails.  Return urgent ones.  Answer questions from our Momsanity Sisters.  Shower.  Maybe all at the same time.  Help Dr. Wiggy get out the door.

8:00:  Mommy time begins.  Get the little guy ready.  Feed us both (eggs and oats with blueberries for both of us) etc.

9:30:  Head to the park for a play date while drinking my second cup of coffee.  Chase the little guy around.  Ask him to stop licking rocks.  Push him on the swing more times than I can count.  Sing ring around the rosy 1000 times.   I swing between screaming and smiling about 100 x.

11:30: Head to Wiggy’s office so we can all have lunch together. We do this once per week or more. I pack up our lunch in the morning and he takes it with him to make it easy. Salads with lots of veggies, nuts and rotisserie chicken. My daily favorite. Turkey, cucumbers, hummus and grapes for the short guy.

2:00:  Put the little guy down for his nap.  Work like a mad woman folding laundry, checking emails, producing Momsanity content, getting dinner in the crockpot, putting away dishes, sweeping the floor, talking to nutrition clients, editing images, sweeping the floor, writing blog posts, answering customer service emails for Dr. Wiggy, listening to business podcasts/christian Mom stuff, planning my grocery list, watch Instagram training, finalize nutrition plans, plan vacation, make quick videos for Momsanity, work on webinar for Nature’s Pearl, respond to questions in all of my Facebook groups etc.  Being a work-at-home mom is no joke, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

4:30:  Our God-send of a babysitter Amanda arrives to watch Adler so Mommy can keep working until 6 or so.  I normally have an NP Pro shake with unsweetened almond milk around this time.  Chocolate powder by itself or vanilla with a little fruit if I need more energy.

6:30:  Daddy arrives home and evening fun begins.  We go for a walk first as a family to wind down whenever we can plus a little play time.

7:30 Dinner- I really really enjoy our family evening time so I do all of the preparation I can during the morning or afternoon. Tonight I broiled fish in 5 minutes plus sauteed cabbage, broccoli and fennel in palm oil. The boys get quinoa/brown rice as well.

8:15:  BEDTIME for the little guy.  We sing lots of songs, read our Children’s Bible and other books and then rock to our lullaby scripture CD.  It’s the only time he stays still and wants to be held.  Melt my heart.

8:45:  Hang out with my husband.  Couples devotions, any last minute work, small group prep, watch part of a movie, etc.  We try to have chamomile tea or ME Cocoa Drink together before bed most nights.

Between 9:30 and 10:  Crash!  I’m working on my sleep  habits.  I’m getting better, but still struggle to get my 8 hours.
