Getting to Know Coach Emily: Round 2

By Emily Saunders

It’s scary asking the question:  What do you want to know about me?  But it’s also super fun so I did it and here are the answers to your questions!!

Before you start check out my original post here!!!  It has all the background details

1.  What was your biggest pregnancy craving?  I had terrible morning sickness- to the point that I took medication- and I HATE prescription meds unless they are 100% necessary.  Early on I ate a lot of ham sandwiches, a whole watermelon and pineapple each week and spaghetti as time went on I ate a lot of rotisserie chicken and peas.  It’s an out-of-body experience folks!

2.  3 Pet Peeves:  Complaining, leaving the toilet lid up, waiters that leave water glasses empty for too long

3.  What did you want to be when you grew up?  A paleontologist or a veterinarian

4.  Most surprising thing about motherhood:  Emotions- I feel a connection to every mom I meet and just about anything can make me cry… and I’m not a crier!!

5.  What Should I know about Coach Debbie:  She’s as funny and honest in person as she is in writing and in video- promise!  She has a huge heart and her faith is an inspiration to me!

6.  What should I know about Coach Kate:  We bonded over being “fit pregnant Moms” and are loving sharing Motherhood together.  She and her husband Patrick are great marriage role models.  He’s just as awesome and sweet as she is!!

7.  Random Facts:  While I’m not particularly girly I always have my toe nails painted.  I hate bacon– I know it’s weird!  My favorite playtime activities as a child were riding 4-wheelers and building forts.  I always read at least 1 page of a book before going to sleep at night.  I’m a TERRIBLE singer, but I love to sing (don’t stand in front of me at church- I warned you).  I’m Super Type A about most things (I know you’re shocked), but Motherhood has made me way more flexible. I LOVE getting up super early and having quiet time and exercise time before the sun comes up.

8.  What’s your Favorite TV Show:  I watch VERY little TV (we have $10 cable), but we never miss Parenthood.  LOVE that show!  I also watch the Today Show.

9.  Most Recent Book You’ve Read:  “Bringing Up Boys” By James Dobson, currently reading “Shepherding a Child’s Heart”.

10.  Favorite Date Night:  Wine, Quiet Live Music, Lots of Talking

11.  Best “Baby After Body” Advice:  Have grace with yourself- you just gave birth to a human being!   Prioritize your nutrition above exercise.  Be patient- research shows that the majority of fat-loss happens between months 4 and 8 for breastfeeding Moms.  Don’t wait for the gym– grab some dumbbells and your baby monitor and workout at home!  If breastfeeding eat plenty of fat- your body needs it!   Walk with your baby as much as you’re able- it’s great stress relief and lower stress=better results!

12.  Most Rewarding Thing About Being a Momsanity Coach:  The TINY breakthroughs.  That’s where the magic happens.  When women learn to give themselves God’s grace and see them through His eyes, then the motivation, inspiration, and willpower all begins to come together.  It’s awesome to watch little bitty pieces of that happen daily through the struggles!!  The big successes are super fun too, but the little moments are what get me really excited!!
