I Won’t Exercise in Heaven

I will not exercise in heaven.  

I do it on earth for a lot of reasons:  health, coordination, mood boost, new wardrobe avoidance, caring for God’s temple, role model, strength, fat loss, disease prevention, muscle building, clearer thinking, energy, serving others, income, keeping up with kids, longer life span, calorie burning, flexibility, muscle definition, etc etc.

How do I turn loathing into loving?

  • I often exercise barefoot.
  • I often do moves that involve lying on a mat.
  • I don’t workout more than 20 minutes.
  • I crank my favorite music.
  • I have 4 fans to cool me down during.
  • I wear minimal clothing so I sweat less.
  • I have my kids join me … sometimes.  It’s distracting and I feel like I’m teaching them to enjoy being active.  Other times I just want “me time.”
  • I lift heavy weights to feel empowered.
  • I pray for God to help me do it for Him and by His strength.
  • I do what works for my goals.  I want a tight, toned physique with minimal fat.  So I push myself to lift heavy and don’t pace myself.   Most exercises, while fun or sweat-inducing, are not going to achieve these results.  I simply exercise smarter.


Here’s a 10 minute workout for you to do with me.  I lifted heavy weights so that I was out of breath and hot and my muscles were burning.  For your sake, I stayed dressed….you’re welcome.

10 MINUTE LEG WORKOUT WITH WEIGHTS

3-5 MIN WARM UP

EACH MOVE IS 60 SECONDS.  LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS, PUSH UNTIL YOU CAN’T, REST AS NEEDED.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  STOOL/CHAIR/BENCH, 2 HEAVY WEIGHTS, 1 VERY HEAVY WEIGHT

COMPLETE 2 ROUNDS:

  1.  2 HEAVY WEIGHTS.  STOOL:  SPLIT SQUAT (30 SECONDS EACH LEG)
  2. 1 HEAVY WEIGHT.  WEIGHTED NEW JACKS
  3. 2 HEAVY WEIGHTS.  STOOL:  UNEVEN SQUATS (30 SECONDS EACH LEG)
  4. NO WEIGHTS.  STOOL:  ALTERNATING FAST STEP-UPS
  5. 1 VERY HEAVY WEIGHT:  PLIE SQUAT + “KETTLEBELL” SWING


3-5 MIN COOL DOWN
