It Is FINISHED! An Easter Devotion

By Emily Saunders

In just a few days we will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  What a special and amazing season this is.  I don’t know about you, but the more I grow in my faith the more in awe I feel about the incredible sacrifice that Christ made for ME on the cross.  Sisters, he didn’t live, teach, suffer and die for himself, but for you and ME!

I continue to feel like I know so little about God.  I don’t truly understand his love for this world and mankind.  I can’t fathom how it is all going to work out in the end.  Easter gives us a vague snapshot.  It shows us that God is wonderful, He has big plans.  He can fix what is wrong with our world.  Easter shows us that all things happen when we least expect.  It fills us with expectation and reverence.  While I have no answers, God is the answer.

As Christians our hope relies fully on the promise of the resurrection, which should be our entire focus on Easter Sunday.  We don’t need to see how everything might work out because we can see that Christ worked everything out.  We might not like the season of life we’re in right now, but that doesn’t make it unimportant.  Christ inspires us that we must value His work on earth and therefore live like Him.  We grow to know Him better in our suffering.

When we live in the resurrection life, even every day mundane life, is thrilling.  The beautiful creation we experience daily, the renewal of souls, of health, of spirits.  Even among the sad news on television, the suffering and the things that don’t make sense there is hope.  We know Christ has risen.  The tomb is empty.  He goes before us.  We await our own Resurrection and in the mean time rest fully on His hope.

We have the opportunity to live free of bondage to sin, of striving for perfection, of working for our salvation.  This weekend we celebrate the gift of life.  May we share with the world the source of our hope.  Might our praise and worship so fully and overwhelmingly point to Him that the whole world wants to know the reason.  Shout with joy.  Our savior has told us “It is Finished”!!

Happy Easter Momsanity!
